🎴 How to sell collectibles
Collectibles trade on authenticity and completeness, so your photos are evidence as much as advertising. A dark backdrop or a simple display stand keeps the piece the only subject; light from 45° reveals relief, patina, and surface detail. Get macro shots of signatures, edition numbers, and certificates — that's what serious buyers zoom into first.
📷 Photographing
- 🎨 Dark background or a simple display stand — avoid clutter
- 💡 Soft natural light from 45° — shows relief, patina, and surface details
- 📐 Front, back, packaging, any signatures or certificates, and any flaws
- 🔍 Macro shot of signatures or limited edition numbering — buyers want to verify
- 📦 Show the original packaging even if damaged — completeness adds value
📦 Packing & shipping
- 🫧 Wrap in acid-free tissue or bubble wrap before boxing — no direct bubble contact on painted surfaces
- 📦 Use a snug box with at least 1" padding on all sides; a loose item will shift and break
- 🏷️ Mark "Fragile" and "This Side Up" — also helps document care if an insurance claim is needed
- 📋 Add a printed copy of the eBay listing or COA inside the package — buyers appreciate the paper trail
